The View-Master Model G (#2014) was
produced between 1959 and 1977. It was made from lightweight plastic .
Because of it's long production history there are many different
variations of this model. During the time that this viewer was in
production the company ownership switched from Sawyers to GAF. The red
and white viewer shown below came in a tub, together with reels, to mark
the US Bicentennial anniversary.
Note: There are many
different variants of the Model G and even slight differences can make a
substantial difference to value. The viewers below are only a
representative sample of what is available
This beige Model G below was made
in Belgium by Sawyers

A Gaf Two-Tone View-Master Model G.
This one came packaged in the special American Bicentennial Presentation
Tub shown at the bottom of this page

A colour variant, commonly know an
Albino, made by Sawyers. This one was made in the U.S.A.
It's box carried the label View-Master Standard No. 2014

This Gaf Model G differs from
those shown above as it has small diffuser windows. It might be thought
that the smaller windows led to a darker image, but this isn't the case
and this viewer provides a good, bright viewing platform. This particular
Model G came in a Disney Gift Pack Tub, show below on the right, together
with a plastic carton of seven reels.

This is a Model G was produced by View-Master
International Group (or VMI) in the mid 1980's. The example shown below is
a slightly scarcer version, having white high-lighted letters. Notice the
rounded advance lever and turning mechanism, which is all made from
plastic, rather than the earlier metal/plastic combination.

The model below is known as the
'Bright White' Model G by Sawyers and is the most valuable of all the G
range, however, sadly it suffers a fatal flaw. The white plastic ages
badly and this can be seen as a yellowing of the plastic surface, clearly
visible in the example below. A badly yellowed version will halve the value.

(when perfect, not yellowed) Gaf often sold their Model G (and
Talking) View-Masters in Tubs.
