3diland Stereopocket Type 101
The Stereopocket Type 101 viewer was manufactured
by 3diland in Italy in 1976. The viewer accepts cartridges that consist
of 50 stereo pairs. The film used in these cartridges faded to magenta over
time, but still remained viewable. The cartridges were supplied in a
blister pack that came complete with a booklet explaining the subjects
views.
The film is advanced using a lever which is pushed
in to move the film to the next frame. Once the film has been viewed the
cartridge is removed and a pop-up handle is used to rewind the film to
the beginning.
This viewer lacks the style usually associated
with Italian products and is not particularly well designed. The film
advance can be a bit vague and the viewer is not especially comfortable
to use. Despite that, these viewers always achieve comparatively high
prices when they come up for sale and are quite sought after.

3diland Stereopocket Type 102
This is the lighted version of the
viewer show above, known as the Type 102. The light source is excellent,
but the viewer is still let down by an erratic and unreliable film
advance mechanism. On film 5007-05 (African Animals) all the animals are
stuffed! as they also are on several films about birds.

compartment cover removed.
