Stereo photography has always
encompassed glamour and risqué subjects, even from it's very earliest
days in the mid 1800's.
View-Master, with it's Personal
Reels allowed anyone who had a stereo camera to use whatever images they
wished. This often involved subjects that would never normally be made
available for public sale.
Examples of these 'glamour reels'
pop up on eBay from time to time and always fetch good prices,
confirming the old adage, 'sex sells'.
The French manufacturer, Lestrade
produced a set of slides entitled "Etudes de Plastiques" ,
from which the images below were taken.
Whilst these days these images
seem very uncontroversial, you have to remember they were created
back in the late 1950's or early 1960's, when public attitudes to nudity
were very different from today's.
